Design Iowa: A Book of Pigtures
The screw post-bound book was a
collaborative effort by students in Paula Curran’s fall 2009 book publication design course. The project
followed a field trip to the Minnesota Center for Book Arts, where the class took part in a letterpress printing
demonstration featuring hog imagery and the words “Des Iowa.” After the field trip we created a book
using hog prints. Each student scanned in the hog image and created a page using the image in whatever way they
desired. The cover page depicts the original print.
The book has been selected for the 40th
Annual UCDA (University and College Designers Association) Design Competition exhibition.
